1987 went to shit. Vecna brought on what may well be the apocalypse, and Steve fought it to the end. Literally.
Death was supposed to be a one-way street. But knowing a girl with super powers had a tendency to change the game. So when Steve opens his eyes to a beer-soaked bathroom on Halloween in 1984, Nancy calling him 'bullshit' all over again, the universe might forgive Steve for thinking he was either a) in Hell or b) going cracked. But Steve didn't have time to freakout. Not when El finds him and asks that he help her change the events of the future. Not when he's the only other person she managed to drag with her for chance number two.
OR: A time travel fix-it, where 1987 Steve is dropped back into his 1984 self. And now he has to deal with that plus the impending apocalypse on the horizon. But he'll be fine, right? Because, as El informs whoever asks, Steve's 'The Babysitter'. So he gets to work. He can cry later, when he's done.

“Hold on to me.” Vergil said as his hands shifted to grab the back of the hunter’s knees.
“What? No, I can walk, I just…”
“You need to rest. So sleep and heal. I’ll walk.” He cut the red twin off as he pushed on his legs and stood up, carrying his brother on his back.
“It’s not fair.” He protested softly but his arms shifted to wrap around his neck, his head resting on his shoulder.
“Life isn’t fair, Dante.” Vergil hummed.
“One day I’ll give you a piggyback ride too, so we’ll be even.” The hunter huffed groggily and the blue twin could feel him relax.
“Over my dead body.” Vergil scoffed, rolling his eyes at his nonsense.

After the events of DMC5 Dante and Vergil are stuck in the Underworld.
Dante is sick and needs to go back to the Human World, but Vergil can't follow him there. No matter how much he wants to.
The harsh truth is that Dante is not the only one who is sick, but the blue half-devil can't let his little brother know that. -

He and Mu Qing exchanged a glance, they knew their friend preferred living humbly in small wooden cottages nowadays, but it still felt weird at times for the two of them, having been present when he resided in a palace and only ate the finest of dishes.
"Its a little rundown," Xie Lian aknowledged, "But I'll fix it up and make it the cosiest cottage you've ever seen. I already started planting several flowering trees I want to grow at the entrance. I also want small flowers but I've not yet decided on the sort."
His voice and movements were energetic, his smile bright. Feng Xin didn't understand. Wasn't he supposed to be heartbroken and deppressed? After all, it had only been a few short weeks since Crimson Rain had left.
When he exchanged yet another glance with Mu Qing he could see that they were both equally confused.
