“Newton?” he asks as he turns, and it takes him a minute to comprehend and process Newton on the ground, twitching and making small, panicked noises, as if he were an injured animal. “Newton! By Jove, have you fallen? What on earth have you tripped on?”

While it was true that Hermann had fought tooth and nail to have Newton released from the rather uncomfortable chair-trap room back at the Shatterdome that Pentecost had shoved him in after disgracefully knocking him out cold on top of the roof (although he does suppose he wasn’t shot on sight, considering that was the command Shao gave out), it didn’t mean he had to be happy about staying in the absolute tornado that Hermann claimed was his home.
