    “Buck.” Athena says flatly.

    Buck holds out the wiggling bundle towards her. A tiny pair of triangular ears poke out of the little blanket, followed by a furry grey head embedded with big blue eyes. Athena stares at the cat. The cat stares back.

    “Meow,” the cat tells her, in an almost exasperated tone that feels familiar in a way that she can’t put her finger on.

    Buck grins at her, all breathless relief. “It’s Bobby!”

    Or: Buck attempts to bring Bobby back to life. It has mixed results.

    “Fuck. We… uh.” Eddie swallows hard around the lump in his throat, jaw working as he lifts his gaze to Buck. Buck’s staring off into the distance, eyes wide, mouth open, solid as a statue.

    “...We don't do that yet.” Eddie croaks.

    Buck seems to come back to himself a little, and his eyes snap to Eddie’s. They're intense.

    “No,” Buck replies, a flush on his face, “No, we don't.”

    or: five times eddie forgets that he and buck aren't a couple (and the one time they actually are)
