It felt like months had passed rather than just weeks and at the same time, like no time at all. It was no wonder he’d had to come out to the beach all on his own in the middle of the night.

"What's wrong?" He asked, not liking the panicked look on her face.
"Buck, he— he's gone."
"Maybe he just went on a walk or decided to crash somewhere else?" Chim tried to calm her down but Maddie only shook her head.
"Without his phone and shoes at 3 AM in the morning? The door was wide open when I came into the kitchen. Something is wrong.“
