He’s so close. But Buck’s face sways even closer, eyes laser-focused on Eddie’s mouth, like he wants to ensure that what he whispers next make its way inside:

Eddie flinches like the words hit skin. For a second, all the noise in his head goes silent, leaving gaping awareness and the awful, naked feeling of being seen.
“W-what—” Eddie’s voice cracks and he’s trying to frown, trying to be mad, but he feels exposed, so his words come out broken, quiet and confused. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Buck smiles at him, fond, and Eddie aches, he aches so much to tell Buck all the things about his big stupid gay awakening that he couldn’t tell his best friend when he came out to him during a quiet night sometime after Chris first texted him back in the summer. All the things that are so intimately tied to Buck.
‘You are,’ Buck says, quiet, eyes sparkling and Eddie’s a stronger man than he thought because he doesn't get on one knee in the middle of the kitchen and propose to another man's boyfriend. ‘Really good. At that.’-----
It's Halloween, Chris is heading back to Texas for a few days and Frank gives Eddie therapy homework to do something for himself, to let himself want things. Eddie enlists Buck's help and something shifts between them in the following week.

Summary
"The Fates have summoned us", Annabeth says in her most relaxed voice, but behind her words, he knows that she was tense and nervous.
Percy Jackson was nervous as well. The first time he had met those three old ladies was in a bus stop in New York, with Grover. At first, he was clueless to why the Fates would show himself, cutting a yarn that looks like it belonged to him- only it didn't. The second time was in Mount Olympus, when the Fates were carrying Luke Castellan's body away from them.
"What do they want?", Percy asks with wide eyes.
"I also don't know", Annabeth replies. "But it must be something reasonable, if we, Thalia were chosen, along with some other campers."
