Summary
"It's fine, Jee," Eddie says. "Buck doesn't have to kiss me."
"Yes he does." Jee crosses her arms and looks sternly at Buck. "Daddy and Mommy kiss every time when they go away from each other."
"Yeah, okay." Buck sucks in a breath and steps towards Eddie. He ducks his head down and presses the most fleeting kiss to Eddie's cheek.
"Not like that," Jee scolds.
"What? Why not?" Buck squawks.
"Because," she sighs and gives him a long, disapproving look. "Mommy and Daddy always kiss on the lips."

Summary
“What the fuck, Buck. Look at us! We don’t do this, man. You can’t just up and leave after things get hard!” Eddie wasn’t sure how to stop being angry, how to not put everything on Buck, but his best friend leaving sure wasn’t helping.
“Oh, but you can?” Buck snarled and Eddie looked at him in disbelief.
“You…No. We’ve been over this. I know that you don’t think that I…” Eddie was lost for words but Buck quickly started speaking instead.
“That you what, Eddie? That you didn’t leave? That you haven’t changed? That we haven’t changed? Because we sure as hell did. And El Paso wasn’t the first time you did it. It is your fucking thing."
Or
In the midst of their grief, Buck and Eddie fell out of their usual rhythm and went into two completely different directions. After a fight that took way too much from both of them and after the news that Eddie and Chris were staying in LA, Buck decided to move out and leave this thing between him and Eddie behind.
Or
Buck and Eddie have another divorce era right after the events of s8e17. We ignore everything that happened after that episode. Chris is a sweetheart, Maddie Buckley-Han is amazing and Tommy is only here as a plot device.

Summary
“Holy shit!” Chim giggled, jabbing his pointer finger at his other self repeatedly with excitement.
His other self mirrored the same pose, also flinging his hand up to point excitedly at him.
Noticing the mirrored position, they matched manic, feral grins and yelled in the same intonation, almost harmonising their next shout together. “Omg! We Spider-Man memed!”
_______
OR: Chimeny is visited by his variant, who introduces him to the world of buddie. Chim, wanting to step up and be the best Captain for the 118 convinces Chris to help him set Buddie up to rectify this travesty.
What ensues is 5 dates that Chris and Chim plan, and 1 date that they didn't have to plan.(The first chapter was an excuse for me to write Chim interacting with another version of himself and only happens in chapter 1)

Summary
Buck decides he does not like the new guy.
He’s Buck’s age. He’s, objectively, a good-looking guy. Buck can’t deny that, no matter how much he wants to. He’s served in the army. He has a silver star. Buck doesn’t have a silver star, that’s obvious. Eddie’s strong and muscled. He has a chance of winning this month’s calendar. How is Buck ever going to be better than Eddie in one aspect, let alone everything?
So, he decides he doesn’t like Eddie.
OR: When Eddie joins the 118, Buck is jealous, although he won’t admit it. Hell, he doesn’t even know he is jealous.

Summary
One could say that Buck had been trying really hard to form a connection with someone recently. Man, woman, in between, he didn't care. The dates would never go anywhere, and he wasn't entirely sure why. But Ravi has had to hear all about it. And he was pretty sure why. Then, Buck takes Ravi and Eddie to speed dating with him. Of course, yet again, people assume him and Eddie are in love with each other... which is just not the case! But Ravi has had enough.

Summary
But then he thinks about not saying anything to Eddie, to his best friend who can read him like an open book. He thinks about the hiding, the secret daydreaming and the pining. He thinks about the insufferably knowing looks thrown behind Eddie’s back, the exasperated convincing and the never not knowing.
That is a miserable way to live.
And if Buck has learned anything in therapy, he’s allowed not to be miserable.
“I think I might just die if I don’t tell him.”
Or: Buck has an enlightening fifteen minutes at the Buckley-Han house and tells Eddie about it.

Summary
Buck couldn’t breathe as Eddie absently toyed with the button. His vision went hazy as Eddie’s hand came back to the middle of his chest, between his pecs, his big palm pressing against the bare skin there. Buck was so sure he would be branded by the touch, but as Eddie’s hand slid up to his collarbones, there was no physical indication on Buck’s body, only the memory of Eddie’s touch that would probably haunt every dream he ever had.
Three times Buck dressed up for Eddie, and one time Eddie dressed up for Buck.

Summary
Eddie’s just trying to fix his leaky kitchen sink when his sister bursts in waving her phone, yelling about a viral TikTok. What she shows him stops him cold: Buck, on stage, cowboy hat tipped low, singing a heartbreak song.
What follows is a spectacular mix of bad timing, mutual pining, and emotional repression so thick it should come with a warning label. Both men are forced to face the feelings they’ve been pretending don’t exist—Buck’s for the man he thinks he can’t have, and Eddie’s for the truth he’s spent his whole life running from.
Or: Eddie sees a TikTok of his best friend singing about heartbreak, and suddenly the closet isn’t just cracked- it’s shattered glass.

Summary
“Eddie. Dude.”
That, finally, does the trick. Eddie pulls off with his eyebrows in his hairline.
“Dude?” he rasps.
“Sorry,” Buck gasps. “I– I’m gonna come, just. Just, it’s not– you don’t want that in your mouth.”
Eddie looks… amused, of all things. Relaxed. Wetting his lips, he says, “Why not?”
“Uh.” Buck blinks. “It’s– do you?”
“Yeah,” Eddie says, unimpressed. “Dude.”
“I–” Buck seizes when Eddie falls right back down on his cock, the wet heat of his mouth engulfing him again. “S-sorry,” he grits out. “Baby, I’m– I’m so close, you’re gonna make me come, you’re–”
Eddie groans around him, eyes squeezing shut as he presses himself down, down, down, taking Buck deep.
“Oh, fuck–”
Or: Buck and Eddie go camping. Things spiral from there.

Summary
“Damn, this tastes like it did back in the academy.”
“Wait,” Hen looked up from her phone and at the two men in the kitchen, who looked like they’d seen ghosts. “You guys knew each other in the academy?”
“Me and Eddie were roommates while we studied at the fire academy. We were good friends then.”
-
Or; Eddie and Buck used to date during their time at the academy, Eddie broke up with Buck and nine years later Eddie shows up at the 118 to shadow the station. -

Summary
“Bye, Eddie.” Buck says quickly, fluttering his lashes innocently at him, he smiles widely at glare he’s getting, and adds, “I love you.”
Eddie rolls his eyes, “Asshole” he replies, his face blushed bright red.
(Or, Buck finds out that Eddie gets all flustered when someone tells him they love him. Naturally, Buck needs to tell him all the time now. It’s purely platonic, leave him alone.)

Summary
“What’s your face doing?”
Buck makes an affronted noise, shooting Eddie a look. “My face isn’t doing anything.”
“Yes, it is.”
“No, it’s not.”
“Yes, it is.”
“Eddie. It’s not.”
“Yes, it–”
“I’m horny,” Buck blurts. Instantly, his face flushes, body going warm with humiliation. Eddie’s eyes go comically wide.
Or: Buck's really trying to keep it in his pants. Eddie's not exactly keen on letting him do so.

Summary
Ten things that I ...e about Buck, the note read.
A single word was ineligible; was the word meant to say hate? It'd be the correct amount of letters as the missing word would've been. And Buck couldn't think of any other word that'd fit. But Eddie wouldn't have written something like that, not about him. Right?
In concentration, his light colored brows furrowed once he'd finished perusing the title. Or at the very least, what he could make out of it. Even as his eyes zeroed in on the missing word, Buck still couldn't manage to read it. Guess he'd just have to try his best to figure out what it was using the little context he had.
Over and over again, Buck read the title, simply doing nothing but trying to make sense of it. But it never changed; the wording of it never altered from what it was. And Buck wasn't quite sure that what it was, was anything good. Because the only word that seemed to make sense or fit in its place was ‘hate’.
But that.. that couldn't be it, could it?

Summary
And there, Phillip's voice echoed in his head:“When you lose a child, you… you see him everywhere, in all the people he could have become, in all the lives he could have lived. It’s something you can never recover from, someone who can never be replaced!"
Because that was the point, wasn't it?
Buck didn't know how to be a son because he was never anyone's baby; just a reminder of what his parents had lost.
He knew that, but what scratched the walls of his brain was the annoying thought that crept under his skin and whispered the fateful question: did Bobby also see him as nothing more than what his kids could have been?
-
Or, If being someone's son meant living as a fallback, Buck was destined to die in someone else's shadow.
Bobby won't allow that.

Summary
Eddie has always cared for Buck, but over time he begins to realize just how deep those feelings run. Quiet moments, small gestures, and the way Buck loves Chris make Eddie see what he truly wants: to give Buck the family he’s always dreamed of, the one he deserves.
Mostly drunk or tipsy, the pair navigate their slow-burn feelings. Eddie only admits what he feels when he’s drunk, often triggered by small sparks of jealousy—like seeing a woman flirt with Buck on shift. Buck, blissfully oblivious, thinks Eddie is just being kind. When Buck tipsy remembers Eddie’s words or the way he looks at him, he panics, calling Maddie in flustered, semi-confessional phone calls, convinced Eddie doesn’t feel the same.
Through laughter, teasing, and the occasional heated argument over their feelings, the tension between them slowly builds. Eventually, a night of drinking and jealousy leads to an accidental marriage neither realizes at the time, leaving them to navigate the chaos, their emotions, and the undeniable bond that’s been there all along.

Summary
Buck’s first shift back at the 118 after the lawsuit was nothing like he’d imagined and Buck wasn't sure how he'd bridge the sudden distance between him and his team. But the disappointment of their brush-off was eclipsed when he came home from that first shift to find an old flame waiting on his doorstep with a choice that was really no choice at all. Buck had no idea how to be a dad, especially without the help of the people he'd come to think of as his family, but he was determined to figure it out; and maybe figure out some things about himself along the way.

Eddie thought they were kind of on the same page about his home becoming their home, but maybe he had to show Buck that he didn’t just want to be roommates - he wanted to be husbands.
Eddie just wants Buck to stay, but why does Buck seem so determined to leave?
