A little care here, a lot of drama there and now Danny is traveling the country with Pariah in a whole new dimension that is not his.

“Goodnight, Phainon,” Mydei says, a touch gentler, pushing off the railing and heading back to the door.
He can just barely hear Phainon’s soft, “Goodnight, Mydeimos,” before he’s shutting the chamber door behind him.

“You know I gave Mother that rock yesterday,” Tanjiro said, feeling his face heat. “Father says it’s my bowering instincts and that I should follow my heart to know what to make for a bower gift and I saw that boar and now I have to carve a boar netsuke.” He buried his face in his hands.

Bruce’s hands moved with quiet patience, shaping the bow as though it were something fragile.
As he worked, he asked, softly, “Have you ever studied Meditations? Marcus Aurelius?”
“Yes,” Damian replied at once, his voice clipped. “Multiple times. The League made sure of it.”
“Then you might know this one,” Bruce said, his tone like the turning of a worn page:
‘You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.’”
Damian shifted, just slightly. A flicker of conflict passed over his features: resentment, recognition, something deeper.
“It means you control your reactions,” he recited. “Don’t let emotion cloud logic. Stay above it.”
Bruce stilled, hands dropping gently. The bowtie now rested perfectly at Damian’s throat.
“That’s what they taught you,” Bruce said quietly. “But it’s not what he meant.”
He stepped away, walking toward the corner where a narrow table stood against the wall, carved from dark, time-softened oak. Upon it sat a small leather book: old, worn, the kind that remembered every hand that had touched it. Its spine cracked faintly as Bruce picked it up.
He didn’t open it. Not yet.
Instead, he looked back at his son, the golden light casting long shadows across the distance between them.
Bruce turned the worn leather cover over in his hands as though weighing something far heavier than a book.
“Marcus wasn’t talking about shutting yourself off,” he said, voice roughened by memory.
“He was talking about acceptance. About peace.”
Damian’s mouth twisted, the faintest shadow of bitterness across his face.
“Peace is a luxury,” he said flatly.
Bruce turned then, facing him fully, the dying evening light catching the deep lines of weariness etched into his face.
“It’s not,” he said. “It’s a practice. Like discipline. Like breathing.”
He spoke the words with the quiet certainty of a man who had spent a lifetime learning them the hard way. His fingers drifted across the book’s cover, over faded gold letters that time had dulled but not erased.
