The light is too bright. Much too bright, really. Whoever made the sun must be very sadistic. Oh, wait. Shang Qinghua lets out a weak giggle from beneath the cozy, fluffy comforter he's buried under. Wow. My king really is kind to me. Man, I wish I didn't love him so much. It's an awful thought. He has it all the time, especially when he's recovering. He doesn't think about much else besides work, after all. His king, and work. Those are his focal thoughtpoints in life.
To be fair, those are both sort of the same thing. At Cang Qiong, the work involving him is avoiding anything that might remind his colleagues of his betrayal and therefore his king. At the Northern Palace, well, the only person he ever talks to consistently is his king. There's no one else. No one will ever touch his raw nerves the same way, claw out his deepest emotions with harsh and blunt slashes. Shang Qinghua calls it love. Cucumber-bro calls it obsession. He can talk about his king for hours and never run out of descriptions, but his bro wouldn't be able to understand. He's never made something and breathed it to life until his own breath doesn't come anymore.

Set in Third Beat, everyone makes the wrong assumptions but things work out in the end.
