They sit in silence for another moment - he, fit of friendship over, studying the engraving on the cover of the Night Nurse’s book, she, embarrassed at this bonding moment between them, readjusting herself on the couch.
Edwin stands and makes his way to his bookshelves. “Would you like to read something a bit more cheerful?”
“Yes, please,” Crystal says, truthfully, and extends her hands for the heavy tome that he gives her.
They sit in silence together for another few moments, and then - “What the fuck, Edwin, in what world is ‘A Dissertation on Modern Age Poisons’ ‘more cheerful’?”

Summary
Far is a new term for them. They didn’t really have too far, before, which Charles supposes is because he assumed they were already as far as they could go. He’d given up his own personal forever for Edwin, back when he only knew him as the lonely spirit who’d said he wasn’t good with people, even after he’d spent an entire night comforting a complete stranger.
They’d talked about it, after.
I had forever, Edwin had told him, smiling ruefully. You only had a few hours. What is that compared with an eternity?
I want that eternity, Charles hadn’t said. Those “few hours” convinced me to sacrifice a lot, Charles hadn’t said. Thirty years convinced me to sacrifice everything, Charles hadn’t said. Everything but being with you.

Boris’ eyes are faintly bloodshot, his smile wide, his curls bouncing. He always looks prettiest like this, the edge taken off, in focus. Theo likes to make excuses so that he’ll take a hit first, so that he can see that glassy-eyed gleam while he himself remains temporarily sober, when Boris is less likely to ask him what he’s looking at.
“Are you high at work?”
There’s a long, considering, pause. Boris blinks at him. “Kind of stupid question is that? I have been high at work many times, yes?”
“Well, yeah.” Theo rolls his eyes, shifting to lean against the doorway. “But like. Sharing is caring.”

The girl from the circus is used to being loud.
That’s how Ty Lee is heard - she loves the heat, the lights, the babble of family and fellows under the big tent. She loves her tricky, nervous-nimble acrobatics, the shrieks they draw from the crowd. She loves the soft print of clothing that once was scratchy, but has since been worn down from use. She loves her surroundings.
She doesn’t love the fun house mirrors. They take her small form and warp it into something she doesn’t recognize, take Ty Lee’s visage and morph her into a blob of something that looks like all her sisters combined, strip any simple uniqueness she may have managed to cling to. Ty Lee loves her siblings, but she yearns for a moment where her words and actions have no competition. Where she can speak into the void, and be heard.
Then her comforting white noise is stripped from her, and she meets Azula and Mai, and she changes her mind.

“Everything okay?” Hen asks him when he reascends the stairs, plopping back down on his seat at the table next to Eddie.
Buck puts his head in his hands. “My mother is pimping me out to the women of Los Angeles.”
Chimney snort-coughs whatever’s in the mug he’s been sipping from.
“Come again?”
After another relationship blows up in his face, Buck does himself the generous favor of taking a vow of relationship-celibacy for the greater good of humanity. Then his parents skip back into town with a vengeance, his mother starts meddling in his love life, and Buck elects to find a fake girlfriend to get them off of his case. He's also in love with his best friend, but that's a minor detail.
Meanwhile, Eddie is losing his mind for completely separate reasons. Obviously.

Eddie's brakes come to a screeching halt again, proverbial smoke coming out of his ears. "I…hadn't got that far."
Right. "I mean, uh, tell him…eventually?" Eddie guesses when Pepa doesn't respond to him and instead stares at him like he's just started speaking Pig Latin.
"Ay," Pepa says in an exasperated little huff. "We used to have romance."
Pepa teaches Eddie how to woo Buck. Buck doesn't quite get the picture.
