The gnome choked.
Buck squinted open his eyes and pouted up at the gnome. “Don’t be – be – home- home- homey-pho-sic.”
“Homophobic?”
“Yeah,” Buck huffed. “S’rude! I love Eddie and m’ gunna marry him and if you don’t like it then go find a new garden.” Buck huffed again and closed his eyes. “Stupid gnome.”

Summary
“I'm not in love with you.” There’s a jolt in Eddie’s stomach at that admission. “I’m not secretly pining for you, or anything like that. I don’t even see you that way.”
“Oh,” Eddie says, then forces out a laugh he hopes sounds casual. Buck’s eyes are wide, honest, like he’s desperate for Eddie to be reassured by this admission, to believe him. And how much clearer could he be? He’s not in love with Eddie. That’s fine. Eddie never expected him to be. His now empty beer bottle hits the counter too loudly, “No, of course not.”
Or: Buck reassures Eddie that he's not in love with him. Eddie feels some type of way about that.

When dinner comes, not only are they having the worst night of their lives, they also end up jeopardizing their friendship.

Summary
“C'mere," Buck says, sitting up to scoot closer to Eddie.
"What are you doing?” Eddie asks, and Buck sighs.
"You can just kiss me, get a taste of the lip balm, and tell me what flavour you think it is.”
Eddie can’t believe his ears.
"That is such a stupid way to win a bet, Buck."
“Oh so you concede?"
Eddie rolls his eyes, shaking his head before planting both hands on the sides of Buck's face and hauling him in to press their lips together.
OR
Buck and Eddie make a bet on whether or not Eddie can guess all of Buck's lip balm flavours, and in order for Eddie to get a taste, they have to kiss.
