Mirabel settled down in between the two roots next to her tío, gathering her skirt neatly in her hands and smoothing it out on her lap.
The night around them was just bordering on cool, but the animals and the insects were active. Through the trees they had a good view of the village and Casita.
Mirabel breathed out, breath caught somewhere between something wistful and sorrowful.
"When I stepped into that river, there were ghosts speaking to me."
Bruno looked up sharply from where he was tracing the edge of his fingernail around the pale crescent of an old scar.
Mirabel stared forward, voice soft, absent of the youth and joy that usually colored it.
"I stepped into the waters and I could hear the voices, when I moved my eyes it was like… like seeing an echo. There were men on horses, people on the shore."
She looked down at a spot on her skirt and pulled it taut so she could fidget with the embroidery, "I saw Abuelo Pedro."

She opened her eyes and looked up at Eunyoo questioningly when her hands stopped, freezing on her waist. Eunyoo was looking down at her, lip tucked between her teeth and eyes demure. Jisoo reached up and rested a hand on Eunyoo’s cheek, a silent reassurance.
“You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.”
Eunyoo nodded and looked away towards the window, “I know, I know… I don’t want to do anything too intense… I just want to look.”
Jisoo tilted her palm under Eunyoo’s jaw and prompted her to look back at her, “Anything you want, I‘m all yours.”

Summary
That’s how, on an otherwise nondescript Friday afternoon, Buck finds himself face to face with Eddie Diaz elbow-deep into a box of sex toys – Buck’s sex toys. In a sort of detached horror, he watches as Eddie pulls out something from the bottom of the box, with a clatter. It’s long and purple and in an instant, Buck recognises it.
Eddie doesn’t share that expertise. He says, “What’s this?”

Summary
Buck takes his hand from Eddie’s torso and drags it down his face, applying light pressure to give his brain something else to focus on.
He stops dead in his tracks when Eddie twitches suddenly and moans softly into the skin of his collarbone. An arm wraps around his waist and squeezes.
His free arm spasms, veins freezing as icy fear flows through them. It conflicts strangely with the heat rippling through his lower half.
Buck secures everything he didn't know he could have in one morning. An ill-timed boner, love confessions, and brain-melting sex are included.

“The name. Firehose.” Eddie’s eyes flicked down to the orange in his hands as he started on the next slice. “You said it had more to do with something else.”
“Oh! Right—well…” Buck laughed, a little awkward, rubbing the back of his neck and wringing his hands like he was debating whether or not he should answer. “I guess my question would be… do you know what hyperspermia is?”
Eddie froze mid-chew, then bit down—hard—on a slice of orange. The juice hit the back of his throat and sent him into a coughing fit.
Or; Eddie finds out Buck has hyperspermia and is totally normal and sane about it.

Buck tastes like the beer they drank after they got in, the dumplings they picked up from that good Japanese place just on the corner from the firehouse, like soy sauce and the garlicky sriracha he likes to put on literally everything. It’s the best thing Eddie’s ever tasted. He’s pretty sure he’ll never want to detach his mouth from Buck’s ever again.
Buck does do that, however. Pulls away just a hairbreadth, breathes in sharply through his mouth. A grumpy little whine cuts through the silence of the kitchen like thunder.
