Summary
It’s not a whisper, not exactly. It’s just… matter-of-fact. Like saying it out loud isn’t the hard part. Like waiting for a reaction is.
The words drop between them, sudden and small, but precise.
Eddie blinks, caught mid-step.
“What?”
Buck searches his face. Something subtle shifts behind his eyes. “Wait… you didn’t know?”
There’s no accusation in it. Just confusion. Like it never occurred to him that Eddie wouldn’t know.
Eddie stares, his brain a beat behind his body. “No, I—I didn’t.”OR
Buck is trans and out. So out, that most people don't think about it anymore. So when Eddie joins the 118, no one mentions it. The question is, how long will it be, until Eddie finds out?

Summary
Things between Eddie and Buck have been... weird, ever since he got back from Texas. Eddie tries to find out why, and in doing so uncovers buried secrets about his sexuality and the Buck-Tommy relationship. In other words, it’s a word-vomit on what I would like the Buddie arc to be like.

“You’re an Eddie.”
Eddie scrunched his forehead. “Huh?”
“No, an eddy. A smaller current that runs opposite to the prevailing current.”
Eddie stayed silent. What was happening here? This was all so strange, surreal. But Buck was talking again and there was no time for wondering.
“All your life, the winds have been blowing you one way, but you’ve always been fighting against them. This whole time. You never gave up. You kept trying.”
“What are you talking about, Buck?”
Buck gave no immediate answer. He just stared at Eddie. Eddie blinked several times rapidly. Buck barely blinked at all. Buck’s breaths had shallowed and quieted. His mouth was red and smiling. His birthmark blazed red against his soft, tan skin. His gaze had narrowed, and there was some inscrutable quality to his eyes, those eyes that were looking at Eddie like he was the only thing in the world. -

Huff. Cross arms. Huff again. Sip his soda like it had personally offended him.
“You okay there, Buck?” Bobby asked, amusement laced into his voice like the smoke from the grill.
“I’m fine,” Buck said, definitely not fine.
Chimney and Hen exchanged knowing glances. Chim grinned. “He’s jealous.”
“I am not—” Buck started to protest, only for Hen to raise an eyebrow at him.

Summary
“G’night”
A beat later, letting Buck’s heart creep right up into his chest. He hears Eddie’s arms jostle above his head before his voice starts.
“Buck I know things between us have been messy and hard”
He can’t help but stifle a giggle at that. Eddie’s voice deepens so he can mock the words he had said to Buck eight months ago.
“Y’know how that sounds right?”
Buck turns back to face Eddie, taking half the sheets with him, until Eddie rips them back with a laugh. A real laugh, which makes Buck’s eyebrow twitch. His teeth crush against his lips and his smile is wider than anything when he laughs.
He didn’t remember noticing how much he loved when Eddie laughed.

Cohabiting Buddie meets late night confessions when Eddie finally admits what he wants, don’t we love us some cutesy resolutions.. and some fucking.

or the one where Ravi gives Buck a nickname, Buck happily adopts it, and Eddie—on a visit back from Texas—suddenly finds himself a little too annoyed about it.

Summary
Eddie Diaz has spent years treating his relationship with Evan "Buck" Buckley like an unsolvable equation—too many undefined variables, too much messy emotional calculus. But when a sunlit kitchen accident cracks open the carefully constructed distance between them, Eddie stops pretending he doesn’t know the answer. Buck, ever the self-sacrificing optimist, is convinced he’s a problem Eddie shouldn’t waste time solving—until Eddie’s hands and mouth and stubborn heart rewrite the formula.
Set against the quiet chaos of domestic life with Christopher, lazy afternoons tangled on the couch, and late nights testing the limits of Eddie’s patience (and headboard), these two idiots fumble their way from "best friends" to something fiercer, softer, and infinitely more terrifying. Fluff melts into sweat-slicked smut as they navigate first kisses, first fights, and the terrifying thrill of building a love that doesn’t fit neatly into any equation—except their own.
Because Eddie Diaz might be a math wizard, but Buck? Buck’s the irrational number that finally makes his universe make sense.

Summary
When a viral video of Eddie Diaz heroically carrying an injured Buck through a storm-drenched rescue goes global, everyone at the 118 Firehouse has seen it—except Eddie. Unaware of the footage that’s racked up millions of views (and even more comments about their “undeniable chemistry”), Eddie spends days baffled by his crew’s stifled laughter, cryptic jokes, and Buck’s sudden inability to act normal around him. It isn’t until Christopher innocently mentions the “movie-like” video that Eddie discovers the truth: the world thinks he and Buck are in love.
Confronting Buck leads to a long-overdue confession, but the real surprise isn’t the kiss—it’s the firefam’s betting pool finally cashing in.

Summary
Eddie looks back down at the dog.
“Buck?” he asks slowly, feeling slightly insane. Immediately, the dog barks again, more enthusiastically this time, like he’s voicing his agreement to Eddie’s question.
The dog — Buck — starts wagging his tail as he tries to walk in Eddie’s direction, but he’s so uncoordinated due to not being used to having four legs that he somehow ends up forgetting to move his front legs and stumbling over them, leading to a very inelegant fall that has him almost faceplanting onto the floor.
“Yeah,” Hen says with a small huff. “That dog is Buck, alright.”
Or: Buck gets turned into a Golden Retriever.

Summary
Eddie was used to being greeted by a golden retriever as soon as he got home from work. He wasn't, however, used to an actual golden retriever greeting him, jumping up at his legs and yapping at him loudly. It was very different to his golden retriever boyfriend greeting him with an enthusiastic kiss.
