“Mind if I sit next to you?” Tommy turned to see a tall, lanky man with a curly brown fringe covering half his face.
Tommy looked back around the room. “Out of the whole temple, you wanna sit next to me?”
The man nodded. “I like company when I pray.” Tommy tried not to twist his face into something wretched, so he just looked down and scooted over. The man slid over, holding his hand out. “I’m Wilbur.”
Tommy did not take the hand. “Uh… Tommy.”
Wilbur nodded, turning back to face the statue, a look of reverence on his face.

Tubbo shifts nervously, Tommy is slowly losing his patience now. Whatever they've got to say, they should just say it already.

Tommy's eyes go wide, his mouth agape. That feeling he had earlier comes back tenfold. The longing to talk to another human being and he has a chance.

Summary
Tommy does not live in a fairytale. He ran away from his parents in an act of survival, not rebellion. He gets a sketchy janitor job that’s in the middle of nowhere to have a place to sleep, not rest.
Yet when he meets the creatures- the merfolk- he believes he’s in a fairytale. He cleans their tank and observes them from their iron bars, trying but failing to ignore the bruises on them.
As time progresses, Tommy decides that the creatures deserve their happily ever after. No more Dream or experiments, and no more Tommy once they escape.
No happy ending for Tommy. That is if the creatures didn’t have their own script they were following.

Still, Tommy would do anything for him, so he went into the forest for help of someone who can put him in a lot of danger. The fae. He didn't expect that he would have to come back, and after a few visits, he was friendly with the fae, He didn't know that the fae wouldn't let him go, as they themselves got attached.
They will make him part of their family, despite how Tommy felt about it. He wouldn't be given a choice. The fae will handle it.
