    Bruce and Hal's relationship is still fairly new. They're still familiarizing themselves with each other and enjoying all their new intimate moments. Something's been bothering Bruce though, he feels like Hal has been hiding him, ashamed to be seen with him. Eventually, they're forced to face their misunderstandings.

    Hal glanced at his hand, knowing fully well this was an act, a charade they could drop as soon as it was over and they were home. Until then, he just had to play his part. “Don’t patronize me,” he insisted, slapping his hand away harshly. “I’m not a child.”

    “Well, you certainly act like one,” he snapped, stepping back to exit his personal space and put some distance between them. “My kids have better survival skills than you do.”

    Hal scoffed. “I doubt it, considering you’ve gotten half of them killed and the other half have tried to kill you,” he retorted sharply, the words feeling heavy and bitter on his tongue.

    I'm going to be honest and say that I have no idea how to summarize this fic. It has a plot, but in the same way that a doodle has lineart: it's squiggly, messy, and sometimes it wanders away from the point at hand. Regardless, I'm happy to say that I still think it's really fun!

    This is my first Halbarry fic. I've always loved reading about these two, and finally felt inspired to write my own story about them. They're both adorable. Please, if you feel inclined to read this, then enjoy!! :D

After all, it was bright red, green, and yellow, with little bird-shaped doodles drawn across it. But it was his favorite. It was an ugly, cheery mug which Bruce cherished more than anything else at the Watchtower. No one knew why.

    "I can't replace it," Bruce told him eventually. "Ever."

    "Why not?" Hal questioned. He knew he was pushing his luck, but he couldn't help but be curious about what could be so special about this mug that it made Batman of all people sentimental.

    Bruce hesitated before revealing the truth. "My son made it for me."
