      "You could've fucking said something! " Tim shouted, throwing a book at Kon's head.
      Bruce had suggested they give the two betrothed some time alone. Tim had grit out agreement.
      "I-" Kon ducked out of range, "I didn't know!"
      "Bullshit!"
      "I didn't! Kal-El has never acknowledged me as a son, I'm the product of dark fucking magic, Tim!" Kon caught the next book Tim hurled at him. "I found out less than a week ago, after I was recalled! I thought it would be Jon!"
      Sarcastic venom dripped from Tim's voice. "Well that makes me feel so much better. You thought I'd be betrothed to a goddamn five year old and didn't say shit!"
      "It wasn't supposed to be this soon!"
      "Then why are you here? "

      His constant movement seemed to keep him warm enough but a single shiver from him had had Jason shrugging off his own cloak and wrapping it around Tim's shoulders. The boy had flushed and stumbled over a thank you, and Jason had wished for all the gods to witness his soulmate in that moment and understand. To give him the courage to demand an end to the marriage pact, to be allowed to keep his soulmate as Dick had been.
      He hadn't gathered the courage then, never had managed to. It was a great cruelty that now he sat so close to Tim, witnessing him keep the same distance between his new soulmate that Jason had kept with him.
      Jason hadn't fought for Tim then, but he would not make the same mistake twice
